Two Indians Among 5 killed As Gunmen Storms Kabul Guesthouse

At least five people, including two Indians and an American, were killed after gunmen stormed a guest house in Kabul Wednesday night.
Kabul Police Chief Abdul Rahimi told reporters this morning that five people were also wounded in the attack which ended early this morning. He also said that police shot dead one attacker.

Many people have been rescued from the guest house, with the rescued Indian nationals sheltering at the Indian Embassy.

An Afghan official said, there was a concert planned inside the guest house, with foreigners, mainly Indian and Turkish guests invited.
He said, the attack started before the concert and three to five gunmen managed to sneak into the guest house which followed a shoot-out with security forces.

No group has, so far, claimed responsibility for the attack, but the assault comes as the Taliban, who have attacked such guest houses in the past, press their annual spring offensive.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has expressed concern over the attack on a Kabul guest house. In a tweet after boarding a plane for China, Modi said that he got the news about the attack in the aircraft and he is concerned about the situation.
