West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee gets injured at Nadigram

Kolkata, March 10

In West Bengal, Chief Minister and Trinamool Congress leader Mamata Banerjee got injured at Nadigram on the day of filing nominations today.

The incident happened when she was coming out from a temple at Birulia Wednesday evening.
She alleged that it has been done intentionally.

The TMC chief has headed towards Kolkata, cancelling her programmes at Nadigram.

BJP spokesperson Shamik Bhattacharya has said that a high level inquiry must be initiated to ascertain her allegation while another leader of the party Arjun Singh commented that she has been raising this type of allegation to draw sympathy.

The DGP of West Bengal P. Nirajnayan has asked for a detailed report from the SP of East Medinipur.

Earlier in the day, Ms Banerjee filed her nomination from Nadigram assembly constituency. She has submitted the papers at the SDO office in Haldia.

Ms Banerjee also held a rally before filing nominations. BJP candidate Shubhendu Adhikari will be filing nomination on the last date of filing nominations for the second phase of assembly elections.

Left parties have announced their candidates for the next 6 phases.

CPIM leader Minakshi Mukherjee will be contesting from Nandigram as the Sanjukt Morcha candidate.
