West Bengal SEC Seeks Report From Police On Alleged Attack On Opposition BY TMC Men

The West Bengal State Election Commission has sought a report from the Police administration on alleged attacks on opposition parties by the ruling Trinamool Congress supporters during campaign of ensuing Municipal elections in the State.

The State Election Commissioner Susanta Ranjan Upadhyay told newsmen in Kolkata Saturday that he has written a letter to the DGP on the matter and asked him to submit a report at the earliest.

Upadhyaya told that the Commission has received around 60 complaints from opposition parties on the issue.

The opposition Left, Congress and BJP have alleged that the ruling Trinamool Congress supporters have created a reign of terror before the polls and their party workers and candidates are being hackled at different areas.

However, the ruling party has denied the allegations. The elections for Kolkata Municipal Corporation will take place on 18th of this month and voting will be taken up in remaining 88 Municipalities on 25th of April this year.

The ruling Trinamool Congress has already won in three municipalities unopposed.
