WHO honours Dr Harsh Vardhan for efforts in tobacco control

New Delhi, May 31

This year WHO Director-General Special award has been given to Union Health Minister Dr Harsh Vardhan.

Every year, the World Health Organization, WHO recognizes individuals or organizations in each of the six WHO Regions for their accomplishments in the area of tobacco control.

Director-General of WHO, Dr. Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus has said that Dr Harsh Vardhan leadership was instrumental in the 2019 national legislation to ban E-cigarettes and heated tobacco products.

In a tweet, Harsh Vardhan said, Tobacco Free Homes and Tobacco Free society continue to remain important personal missions in his life.
