Winter Session of Parliament to begin from tomorrow

New Delhi, November 28

The Winter Session of Parliament will begin from tomorrow. It is scheduled to conclude on 23rd December. On the first day of the session, Farm Laws Repeal Bill 2021 has been listed for introduction and passing in the Lok Sabha. The Bill will repeal the Farmers (Empowerment and Protection) Agreement on Price Assurance and Farm Services Act, 2020, the Farmers’ Produce Trade and Commerce (Promotion and Facilitation) Act, 2020, the Essential Commodities (Amendment) Act, 2020 and to amend the Essential Commodities Act, 1955.

On the eve of the Winter Session of Parliament, a meeting of the Government with floor leaders of all parties was held in New Delhi to ensure the smooth functioning of both Houses of Parliament. Parliamentary Affairs Minister Pralhad Joshi said, the Government is always ready to discuss on the floor of the House, any issue as permitted under Rules of Procedure. He also requested all parties for co-operation for the smooth functioning of the House.

In the all-party meeting, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh expressed his appreciation that the discussion had been very healthy and important issues had been flagged. He noted that the parties have expressed the need for more discussions in Parliament with regard to which, he underlined that the government also wants healthy discussion.

Leader of House in Rajya Sabha Piyush Goyal, Leader of Opposition in Rajya Sabha Mallikarjun Kharge, Leader of Congress in Lok Sabha Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury, NCP leader Sharad Pawar, SP leader Ram Gopal Yadav, BSP leader Satish Chandra Mishra, National Conference leader Farooq Abdullah, YSRCP MP Vijay Sai Reddy, DMK leader T R Baalu, TMC leader Derek O Brien, RPI leader Ramdas Athawale, Rashtriya Lok Janshakti party leader Pashupati Kumar Paras and Apna Dal leader Anupriya Patel were among those who attended the meeting.
