World Cup Cricket Final 2015- Clarck Joined Group of Australia Wining Captains

Australia today lifted the Cricket World Cup for the fifth time. In the final played at the iconic Melbourne Cricket Ground, retiring captain Michael Clarke and his Team defeated neighbors and co-hosts of the tournament, New Zealand by 7 wickets to dash their hopes of a maiden World title.

The Aussies, first, made a mockery of Kiwi Skipper Brendon Mc Cullum’s decision to bat first. They skittled the Black Caps out for 183 in the 45th over courtesy the fiery pace trio of James Faulkner, Mitchell Johnson and Mitchell Starc. Faulkner and Johnson bagged 3 wickets each, while Starc claimed two.

The Kangaroos, then, had no difficulty with the bat as they easily overhauled the target in the 34th over with 7 wickets in hand. Clarke, making his final ODI appearance, top scored with 74, while Steven Smith made an unbeaten 56.

It was a perfect farewell for Clarke as he has now joined Allan Border, Ricky Ponting and Steve Waugh in the elite group of Australia’s World Cup winning captains.
