World famous Tunday Kababi stops serving Bade ki Kebab

In the 105-year-old history of world famous Tunday Kababi, it was for the first time, when it could not able to serve its delicacy ‘Bade ka Kebab’ to the people, due to shortage of meat occurred after crackdown on illegal meat shops and slaughter houses in the state capital.
The oldest food joint of Tunday Kababi situated in the narrow lanes of Chowk Area (old City) look deserted today, where only a couple of consumers were found eating. The joint is serving only Mutton (Goat) and Chicken kebabs while Buffalo meat kebabs are not available.
“Due to the crackdown on illegal meat shops and slaughter houses, we are not getting appropriate supply of meat to prepare the Kebabs for the people coming here. Yesterday the outlet (Chowk ) was closed,” said Raees Ahmad, the owner told to the mediapersons here.
Due to the shortage, the owners are forced to sell mutton and chicken kebabs at Rs 70 and Rs 50 per plate (including two parathas) to the customers, while the for ‘Bade ka Kebab’, outlet charged Rs 30 per plate including parathas. The owners now hope that soon this shortage would be over soon.
Ahmad said it is now a ‘wait and watch’ the situation for us, the loss because of it cannot be ruled out. Our daily revenue will be badly affected if the meat supply is not restored timely. Its not only just Tunday Kebabi whose business has been affected due to shortage of meat supply, there are many big and small outlets which are facing losses every day but cannot do anything.
The rates of raw buffalo meat was around Rs 180-200 per Kg, while raw mutton costs around Rs 400-440 per kilogram. Due to difference in rates the dishes prepared through those different. The dishes prepared by using buffalo meat are cheaper than any other. Near Tunday Kebabi, there are couple of food joints famous for serving any known dish ‘Paaye Ki Nihari’ are also affected due to shortage in meat supply.
“The supply of buffalo meat has become short, due to which are not able to prepare much of Nihari to serve to our customers. It has surely affected our business,” said an owner of food joint.
