World Junior Hockey championship in Lucknow from Dec 8

World junior men’s hockey championship 2016 would be played here in Lucknow from December 8 to 18 this year.

This would for the first time that any international hockey championship would be played in Lucknow at Dhyan Chand Stadium astro turf. This was informed to UP Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav by Hockey India president Narendra Batra here today . Yadav announced that the state government will provide all possible assistance for smooth conduct of this international tourney, being played for the first time in the state.

Dr Batra said 16 top hockey playing countries, junior team, would play in the championship. The team expected to participate in this 11 days tournament includes India, Argentina ,Australia ,Austria. Belgium Canada ,Egypt ,England, Germany, Japan, Korea ,Netherland, New Zealand Pakistan South Africa and Spain. All the matches of the championship would be telecast live in more than 100 countries.
