Zika Outbreak: Rare Case Of Virus Transmitted Through Sex Reported In US ; India Issues Guidelines

A rare case of the Zika virus being transmitted through sex, not a mosquito bite, has been reported in the US.

The Centers for Disease Control (CDC) said a patient infected in Dallas, was infected after having sexual contact with an ill individual who returned from a country where Zika virus is present.

World Health Organisation, on Monday, had declared it an international emergency over the explosive spread of the mosquito-borne virus. India government had also issued guidelines on the Virus Disease, yesterday, following epidemic in Brazil and in other South American countries.
