17 lakh Lorries Go Off Roads In Telangana

More than 3.7 lakh lorries went off the roads all overTelangana as the owners of goods transport vehicles began their “transport strike”Wedneday demanding,among other things, reduction in tax on goods vehicles.

The strike follows after the talks between the lorry owners and the government failedlast evening. Lorries carrying milk,water and fuel were exempted from the strike.

The strike has affected arrival of essential commodities especially vegetables andother perishables in the market causing shortage of these items.Exploiting the situation,traders jacked up prices of vegetables.
