Pawan Hans Evinces Interest To Launch Commercial Helicopter Services In Odisha Soon

Pawan Hans Limited has evinced interested to launch commercial helicopter service between Bhubaneswar-Paradeep and Bhubaneswar–Konark-Puri-Chilika.

Pawan Hans CMD B P Sharma said that two committees were constituted to finalise the modalities and examine the economic viability of the operations of the service.

Sharma was talking to newsmen in Bhubaneswar after a high level meeting held under the Chairmanship of the chief secretary G C Pat at State Secretariat Saturday.

Dr Sharma said Pawan Hans was interested in launching the helicopter service and wanted the state government to make the security arrangement and provision for frisking the tourists.

Replying to a question, he said the service would be costly and not economically viable.

The Committee constituted to finalise the modalities would see how to share the cost with the Paradeep Port Trust, Essar, IOCL and Paradeep Phosphates Ltd.

Paradeep Port Trust (PPT) Chief Engineer Ramachandra Rao said thePawan Hans till now has not mentioned its requirement.

PPT can provide a helipad, guest rooms and offered to provide fire fighting facilities for five months.
