Seven including Bride and Groom killed in Road Accident inear Rourkela, Odisha

At least seven persons including a newly married couple, have been killed and two others seriously injured in a road accident at Lathikata on the National Highway -143 in Sundargarh district Tuesday morning .

Police said one Sushant Rath of Fertiliser colony , Rourkela was returning from Berhampur in South Odisha, after marrying Sunita Panda, along with other family members when thevehicle, in which they were travelling, head on collided with a dumper, a coal laden heavy vehicle.

Two persons including the bride, died on the spot while five others including the bridegroom, died in nearby IGH hospital.

The two seriously injured members have been shifted to Ispat General Hospital at Rourkela where their condition was stated to be critical.

The tragic incident sent shock waves in the fertilisertownship area. The police on hearing the accident rushed tothe spot and retrieved the bodies from the vehicle.

Thepolice used the gas cutters to remove the injured personsfrom the ill-fated vehicle. The driver of the dumper fled from the scene after theaccident and the police have launched a manhunt to nab him.

The family members of the bride in Berhampur have beeninformed by the police and they are arriving in the steelcity to take the bodies
