BJP demands Governor Najeeb Jung To Appoint Lokayukta , Deputy Lokayukta In Delhi

10 April, New Delhi

Delhi BJP MLAs Friday met the Lieutenant governor Najeeb Jung and demanded that steps be taken to appoint the Lokayukta and deputy Lokayukta in the national capital.

BJP MLAs led by Vijender Gupta said that as per the constitutional requirement, the office of the Lokayukta cannot remain vacant for a period exceeding six months.

He said, in Delhi there has been a vacancy since 5th November, 2013 when the then Lokayukta Justice M.M. Sareen demitted office.

The MLAs have said that it is shocking that Chief Minister Arvind Kerjiwal and his party, who claim to be champions of Lokpal movement, are deliberately sitting upon the issue of appointing Lokayukta in Delhi.
