Moga Molestation Issue Rocks Parliament

Moga molestation incident in Punjab figured in both the Houses of Parliament leading to their repeated adjournments in the pre-lunch session Tuesday .

The Rajya Sabha was adjourned twice as opposition members continued to raise the issue demanding a discussion on the matter. The issue was raised by Ambika Soni of the Congress and other opposition leaders as soon as the House met for the day.

Deputy Chairman P J Kurien refused permission to raise the matter saying that the Chair has not received prior notice in this regard.

In the Lok Sabha, Congress members raised the issue. They were supported by Aam Aadmi Party. Parliamentary Affairs minister M Venkaiah Naidu said the issue has already been discussed once in the House and cannot be discussed again.

TRS members, who were demanding the setting up of a High Court in Telangana were seen on their feet. Amidst the din, Speaker Sumitra Mahajan adjourned the House till 2 PM.
