All Charges Against Me ‘Unfounded’, Says Amitabh Thakur

14 July, New Delhi

Senior IPS officer Amitabh Thakur on Tuesday dismissed all charges against him as unfounded, adding that their timing is very suspicious.

“All charges against me are unfounded; all I have done is point inconsistencies in working of some government officials. The timing of this suspension is very suspicious, I just raised the issue against Mulayam Singh. I will reach out to the court,” said Thakur, who met Home Ministry officials Monday.

A rape case was lodged against the IPS officer in Lucknow’s Gomti Nagar police station a day after he released an audio in which Samajwadi Party chief Mulayam Singh Yadav was purportedly threatening him.

The IPS officer’s wife Nutan, who is an RTI activist, has also been accused of taking part in the conspiracy.

The woman had lodged a similar case against the IPS officer on December 31, 2014. But then the case had not been registered against him.
