Ambedkar Statue Vandalised In Punjab

A statue of B R Ambedkar was allegedly vandalised by some unidentified persons Sunday morning, triggering off protests by members of the Dalit community who blocked traffic on the Phagwara-Hoshiarpur road in Punjab.

The statue of the Dalit icon was installed at the Palahigate Mohallapark, was found damaged partly.

Police SHO Paramsunil Singh Randhawa said that a case under various sections of IPC Section was registered against unidentified culprits who had vandalised the statue. He said some suspects were being rounded up for questioning.
