Anna Hazare Protests At Jantar Mantar Over Non-Implementation Of OROP Scheme

Social activist Anna Hazare Sunday protested at Jantar Mantar in the national capital over non-implementation of One Rank One Pension, OROP scheme and said the veterans serve the country but do not get their due.

Joining ex servicemen in their protest, Hazare warned the government to not go back on their promise to implement the OROP scheme.

He also said war widows get a meager amount as pension in present times. The social activist said he will travel to other parts of the country to raise the issue and launch an indefinite fast on October 2 at Ramlila Ground.

OROP is a long standing demand of ex-servicemen. The scheme will grant retired armed forces personnel pension parity with officers and jawans of the same rank who are retiring now.
