AP Targets 18,000 MW Of Power Generation By 2022

Energy Secretary Ajay Jain said that Andhra Pradesh had targeted 18,000 power generation by 2020 and informed that electricity worth Rs.600 crore was saved by adopting various conservative measures in the state.

Addressing a press conference here Thursday Ajay Jain said there are 20.27 million pump sets presently energized in agriculture sector in India and annual additional of 0.25 to 05 million pump sets are realized in this sector.

Managing agriculture load increase is becoming a challenge for electricity utility. Implementation of Ag DSM project is crucial as energy bills for agricultural pump sets are being paid by the government in the form of subsidy, he explained.

Jain said that 1.75 Giga Watts solar and wind power was set as target to be generated in the state. The generation of 900 MW of power by 2016 April was targeted and by March 2016 itself, 80 per of the targeted power could be generated.

The Energy Secretary informed that the AP Discoms were trying to bring down the losses to single digit figure and significant amounts of investments were being made for building up additional generation capacity, strengthening transmission system and evacuation of power from the Solar and Wind clusters.EENL MD Sourab Kumar and CEO A Chandrasekhar reddy were among who attended the programme. Earlier, a workshop on Upscaling AgDSM was organised in which stalk holders from various state participated.
