Assam launches Pentavalent vaccination campaign to prevent infant mortality

The Pentavalent vaccination program has been launched Wednesday in Assam to prevent infant mortality.

Assam Health Minister Dr. Nazrul Islam has formally launched the program in Guwahati.

The Pentavalent vaccine will be incorporated in routine immunization program.It will fight against five diseases–diphtheria, pertussis, tetanus, Hepatitis B and meningitis in a single injection.

ASHA (Accredited Social Health Activist) workers are involved in the state-wide awareness campaign .

Assam has 42 infant mortality rate per thousand births , according to state Health Department sources.
