Assam Set To Become First State To Cover All Districts By JE Vaccination For Children

Assam is all set to become the first state in the country to cover all of its districts by the Japanese encephalitis (JE) vaccination drive for children between one and 15 years.
Eleven of the 27 district have already been covered by the drive. The remaining districts will be covered from today , Thursday onwards, according to official sources.
The vaccination drive will continue for two months and at the same time, the vaccination programme is also cover adults.
Last year, the state also became the first in the country to administer the JE vaccine to adults.
The state recorded its first outbreak of JE in 1978 in Lakhimpur district. JE claimed more than 150 lives last year.
