BJP Slams AAP Govt. For Issuing Show-Cause Notice To DCW Chairperson Barkha Shukla

15 May, New Delhi

Delhi BJP Friday strongly condemned the AAP government for issuing a show cause notice to Delhi Commission for Women Chairperson Barkha Shukla Singh for indulging in abuse of power in summoning AAP leader Kumar Vishwas on a complaint filed by an AAP volunteer

Delhi BJP president Satish Upadhyay said this notice to Ms Singh is as unlawful as was the circular issued to curtail freedom of speech and would meet the same fate in the court of law as the circular on media.

”Prima-facie it is very clear that this notice is nothing but a retaliation on the DCW Chairperson for issuing summons to AAP leader Kumar Vishwas, the closest confident of Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, both of whom have no respect for either women or their rights,” Upadhyay said.

Upadhyay has said the notice tries to show that the summons were issued on May 5 itself conveniently ignoring the truth that the original summons were for May 4 the day on which Vishwas did not appear.

”This vindictive attitude of Kejriwal once again establishes what we have been saying all through that he has no respect for constitutional bodies,” Upadhyay said. Like the media gag circular, the language of the notice issued to Ms Singh carries a veiled threat as to how dare you speak against an Aam Aadmi Party leader, the Delhi BJP president added
