Body of senior Congress leader Lulu Mohapatra arrives, final rites tomorrow

Thousands of Congress activists, mostly the youths, today thronged the Biju Patnaik International Airport this evening to have the glimpse of the mortal remains of popular Congress leader Lulu Mohapatra who passed away last night at a private Hospital in Delhi.

The airport area ranted with “Lulu Mahpatra amar rahe” and “lulu bhai amar rahe”as the body of Mohapatra, a three time MLA and former working President of the Odisha Pradesh Congress arrived at the airport from Delhi and taken in a huge procession by his supporters and followers to the government quarter at unit-6.

Many youth Congress activists for whom Lulu Mohapatra was a source of inspiration for their rise in the political career, broke down as the body was taken in a procession from the airport.

Congress party sources said the body of .Mohapatra will be kept for public darshan at the Unit-6 government quarter tonight to allow the people to pay their last tribute to the departed soul.

Several senior Congress leaders visited the residence to pay floral tributes to the departed soul. The body will be taken in a procession to the Congress Bhawan and also to the State Assembly tomorrow before being taken to his native village Gadarodang in Brahmagiri for final rites.

Mohaptra passed away at the private hospital following multi organ failure while being undergoing treatment. He is survived by wife and a daughter.
