BRICS New Delhi Declaration backed India’s proposals in field of sports
New Delhi, September 12
Describing sport as a vehicle for social development, the BRICS New Delhi Declaration today backed India’s twin proposals of forming a Working Group on Sports Technology and the organisation of a Sports Goods Manufacturing Conclave for enhanced cooperation among member nations.
The Declaration recognised the increasing role of technology in enhancing quality of performance, welfare, governance and inclusion in sports and encouraged discussions on the formation of the Working Group on Sports Technology.
Emphasising the importance of sport as a vehicle for social development, the Declaration called for people-to-people exchanges and promotion of healthy and active societies. The working group on Sports Technology and the conclave for sports goods manufacturers were among the three key initiatives that Sports Minister Mansukh Mandaviya listed during the BRICS Sports Ministers’ meet in Visakhapatnam last month under India’s Chairship.
