BSF Deputy Commandant, Jawan Killed In Landmine Explosion

A deputy commandant of the Border Security Force (BSF) and a jawan were killed in a landmine explosion triggered by the Maoists during combing operations near Dandabai village under Baipariguda police station in Koraput district today.
The deceased BSF personnel have been identified as Deputy commandant Sunil Behera and jawan Sibasish Panda.
While Panda died on the spot, Behera succumbed to his injuries on way to the headquarters hospital at Koraput.
BSF DIG G C Naik said Behera and Panda had gone on a two-wheeler for a combing operation near the Dandabadi village where the armed Maoist had gunned down businessman Bapi Samant when the mishap took place.
The red rebels had planted the landmine targeting the security forces and the two BSF personnel became the victim.
The bodies of the BSF personnel were kept at the district headquarters hospital here and would be sent to their village.
Behera hailed from Bhubaneswar and Panda from Cuttack.
Soon after the incident, the combing operation was intensified in the area
