IISER Campus To Be Set Up In Laudigaon

The site selection committee for establishment of the Indian Institute of Science, Education and Research (IISER) Odisha in Ganjam has selected Laudigaon on the outskirt of Berhampur town for the permanent campus of the proposed IISER, Principal Secretary Skill Development and Technical Education Laxmi Narayan Gupta said here Friday.
However, the committee has not yet taken any decision on the temporary campus Ganjam District administration has identified around 200-acre land in Laoudigaon which is situated 20-km away from Berhampur Railway and 15 km from National Highway number 5 Gupta said.
A five-member team led by Gupta today visited the Industrial Training Institute (ITI) Berhampur, the Gandhi Institute of Technology (GIT) and another private institution identified by the state government for the temporary campus of the proposed IISER.
The other members of the team were– Joint Secretary Human Resources Development Pravin Kumar, Director IISER Bhopal Prof. Vinod Kumar Singh, Director IIT Bhubaneswar Prof. Ratnam Rajkumar and Chief Engineer CPWD Ramesh Chandra Mishra The team also visited Laoudigaon.
We would enroll 50 students in the first batch which may go up to 200 later, said Director IISER Bhopal Prof. Vinod Kumar Singh. The shifting to the permanent campus from the temporary campus may take two to three years, he said
