Bus fares slashed by 2 paise further in Odisha

Odisha Government further slashed the bus fare in all categories by two paise per kilometer.
Announcing the cut in bus fare in the State Assembly Thursday, the Minister of state for Commerce and Transport , Ramesh Chandra Majhi said that a notification to this effect had been issued by his department Wednesday. The reduced new bus fare would come immediate effect from today, he said.
The Minister announced reduction in bus fare on February 4 last on account of the cut in diesel prices by oil companies during mid January. The decision to further reduce the fare was taken considering the recommendation of the Technical Advisory Committee as there was a cut in diesel prices by Rs.2.25 paise on February 3.
With the 2 paisa cut, fares for ordinary buses have now come down from 59 to 57 paise per km, express bus fares from 62 to 60 paise per km, deluxe bus fares from 82 to 80 paise and fares of AC deluxe buses from Rs 1.01 to 99 paisa per kilometre.
