Congress Stages Protest March Against Controversial Land Bill In Delhi

Congress Monday launched a protest march in New Delhi against NDA government’s Land Acquisition Bill.

Senior party leaders like Jairam Ramesh, Ajay Maken, Ahmed Patel and Raj Babbar led the protest march which began at Rajghat. Party volunteers from across the country gathered at Jantar Mantar and marched towards Parliament in protest against the Bill.

Police had to resort to lathi charge and water canon to disperse the crowd trying to march towards Parliament.

Earlier, addressing the gathering, party leader Randeep Surjewala said Congress is the only party which understands the plight of farmers.

He said Narendra Modi government is trying to snatch food from farmer’s mouth by introducing the Bill and Congress party workers will brave bullets and laathi charges to fight against it.

Party leader Sachin Pilot said, Narendra Modi led NDA government wants to bring development at the cost of farmers. Last week, the Lok Sabha passed the Land Acquisition Bill via a voice vote. Nine amendments to the Bill have been adopted.
