Congress to Organise Protest Demonstration Against Land Bill at Jantar Maantar Wednesday
24 Feb, New Delhi
The Congress has demanded the government to withdraw the Right to Fair Compensation and Transparency in Land Acquisition, Rehabilitation and Resettlement (Amendment) Bill, 2015.
Terming it as anti farmer, the party categorically stated that it will oppose the bill on the floor of the houses.
Briefing media in New Delhi Tuesday , party spokesman Randeep Singh Surjewala said, it seems that the government is intending to call joint sittings of the houses to pass the bill.
The spokesman said, the farming community is deeply distressed and collectively protesting against the Land Acquisition Act whereas the NDA-led government is playing the role of a mute spectator.
He alleged that the government is favouring industrialists by ignoring the concerns of farmers.
The Congress will stage a dharna at Janta Mantar tomorrow- Wednesdaay against the bill. Party leaders from across the states are expected to join the protest.
