Dean Investigating Vyapam Scam Found Dead In Delhi Hotel

The 64-year-old dean of a Jabalpur-based medical college, who was investigating into the Vyapam scam, was found dead here under mysterious circumstances Sunday morning, police said.

The victim, identified as Dr Arun Sharma, was the Dean of Netaji Subash Chandra Bose Medical College in Jabalpur in Madhya Pradesh.

As per reports, Dr Sharma was investigating the case of fake examinees in the infamous Vyapam recruitment scam in which top officials, politicians and bureaucrats in Madhya Pradesh are allegedly involved.

The deans body was found in a room in Uppal Hotel, located close to Indira Gandhi International Airport.

According to the police, Dr Sharma checked into the hotel Saturday .

The hotel staff got suspicious after Dr Sharma did not respond to the wake-up calls and informed the police.

The police recovered a bottle of whiskey and some medicines around the body of Dr Sharma. He was lying on his bed and there wereno visible disturbance on the crime spot.

Sources in the police said the victim was a sugar patient.

The police sent the body for post-mortem examination and is awaitingthe reports of autopsy.

Dr Sharma provided documents relating to the fake medical entrance examinees, thus helping the Special Task Force, which is investigating the scam.
A year ago, Dr D K Sakalle, then Dean of the medical college, was found dead at his home. After Dr Sakalle, Dr Sharma took over as the next Dean of the college two months ago.

The Opposition parties in Madhya Pradesh have been demanding a CBI probe as 33 people who were either witnesses or accused have been found dead in the past five years linked to the Vyapam recruitment scam.
