Delhi AAP Govt. Abolishes 200 Types Of Affidavits

Delhi government has abolished mandatory requirement of affidavits in 200 categories currently sought by various departments, local bodies and other organizations in the city. The decision to this effect was taken at a Cabinet meeting Tuesday.

Now from 1st of next month, there will be no requirement of affidavits for different types of certificates and people can submit self attested documents.
Attestation of documents by gazetted officers will be required only in very limited number of cases. To prevent misuse of self-declaration, the Cabinet has asked the Department of Administrative Reforms to bring a separate proposal of stringent punishment for giving false self declarations.
The decision to abolish affidavits will cover major public dealing departments including Education, Revenue, Transport, Food, Supply and Consumer Affairs, Chief Registrar of Birth and Death and Local Bodies.
