Delhi Govt Locks Principal Secy Anindo Majumdar’s Office, Kejriwal Seeks Appointment With President

Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has sought appointment with President Pranab Mukherjee amidst escalating tensions between Delhi government and Lt Governor Najeeb Jung following the appointment of senior IAS officer Shakuntala Gamlin as acting chief secretary.
The President’s office is expected to process Kejriwal’s request for a meeting tomorrow after the President returns from Uttarakhand.

Meanwhile, Delhi government today locked Principal Secretary (Services) Anindo Majumdar’s office in Delhi Secretariat. Delhi government had last Saturday transfered Majumdar who issued the order of posting of Shakuntala Gamlin as acting Chief Secretary.
However, the Lt Governor overturned the decision in the evening saying that Majumdar’s removal does not have his approval and declared it as void.

Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal will meet President Pranab Mukherjee tomorrow evening amidst escalating tensions between Delhi government and Lt Governor Najeeb Jung following the appointment of senior IAS officer Shakuntala Gamlin as acting Chief Secretary. Kejriwal had sought appointment for a meeting with the President.

According to sources in Chief Minister’s Office, the President House has given him appointment at 6 PM.
