17 March, Ahmedabad

Ahmedabad based company; Infibeam said here Wednesday that the current 7 billion dollar E-tailing business in India is likely to increase over six fold in next five years.

Addressing a press conference here, Vishal Mehta, Managing Director of the e-commerce firms Infibeam, which is bringing a public issue of equity shares to the tune of Rs 450 crore beginning March 21 (closes March 23 with price band from Rs 360 to 432 per equity share of face value 10) for its business development, said that the E-tailing business is likely to reach 44 billion dollars by 2020.

‘Despite the jump of over six times the share of electronics and life style segment (the top sector in the E-tailing business) will remain more or less the same at around 75%,’ he said.

Mehta said that currently only around 11 per cent of the internet users were using the E-tailing platforms. “The current number of online shoppers is 35 million and is poised to become 180 millionby 2020 and by then also only 40 per cent of the internet users in the country would be using E-tailing platforms. So there will still be huge growth potential,” he said.
