Estimated 9 Lakh Cases Settled At National Lok Adalat Across India

Around nine lakh cases were settled at the National Lok Adalat which was organised across the country Saturday .

The cases were related to land acquisition, revenue and Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act.

According to the National Legal Services Authority, NALSA, the total value of the cases that were settled stood at 200 crore rupees.

Of the total cases, nearly 69 thousand were related to pending matters, while the rest are pre-litigation matters.

This was the second in a series of National Lok Adalats to be organized by NALSA every month on specific subject matters.

The aim of the such Adalats is to reduce pendency. It also draws attention of the public to the efficacious alternative dispute resolution method of Lok Adalat.
