Extra Constitutional Authorities Were Actually Wielding Power Under UPA Regime : PM Modi

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has dismissed opposition’s criticism of concentration of power in PMO, emphasizing that extra constitutional authorities were actually wielding power under the UPA regime.

Speaking to news agency PTI in New Delhi today, Modi said that the Prime minister’s Office is functioning in letter and spirit as ordained by the Constitution.

On Congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi’s jibe of Suit-Boot ki Sarkar, Modi said that such comments are coming because Congress has not been able to digest its crushing defeat in the Lok Sabha polls even after a year. Referring to criticism on his foreign tours, he said, opposition’s charges are baseless.

About the passage of both Goods and Service Tax and the Land Acquisition Bills, he said it is a matter of time. He maintained that any suggestions on land bill favouring the poor, the farmer and villages will be accepted by the government.

Modi said, violence or discrimination against any community will not be tolerated and focus of his government will be on pro-active, pro-people good governance reforms.

On action against NGOs, the Prime Minister said that any action against NGOs is according to the law.He said no patriotic citizen will object to whatever action the his government has taken.
