Fire claims Four members of businessman family, maid in Odisha

In a shocking and tragic incident four members of a business family and their maid die in a fire mishap while asleep at their house in the wee hours here Thursday .

The deceased were identified as the businessman Satpal Singh’s younger son Gagan Pal Singh (40), daughter-in-law Bhavana Singh (38), granddaughter Sohabi Singh (15), grandson Rubir Singh (8), and maid Khusi Das (15).

Deputy Fire officer Ramesh Chandra Majhi said neighbours first spotted smoke billowing out of Satpal’s house and informed the Police who informed the fire personnel about the incident.

A quick response team of the Fire brigde rushed to the spot and rescued the family family members.

While four of the family and the house maid died on their way to hospital, Satpal’s younger brother was admitted in the Capital Hospital with injuries. His condition is stated to be stable.

Though the exact cause of the fire is not yet known short circuit is suspected to be the reason behind the mishap.BM
