First BJP-PDP Coalition Govt In J&K, Mufti Sayeed Sworn-In As CM

PDP leader Mufti Mohamemd Sayeed took oath as Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir Sunday in presence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Nirmal Singh of BJP has been made the Deputy Chief Minister in PDP-BJP coalition goverment. He becomes the first BJP MLA to take oath as a Minister in Jammu and Kashmir government.
Separatist-turned politician Sajjad Lone also took oath as a Minister in the Mufti Sayeed governement. Abdul Rehman Bhatt Veeri, Chander Prakash, Javed Mustafa Mir, Abdul Haq Khan,Lal Singh and Bali Bhagat also take oath as Ministers .

Governor NN Vohra administered the oath of office at General Zorawar Singh Auditorium in Jammu University .

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, BJP President Amit Shah veteran party leader leaders L K Advani, M M Joshi and PDP’s Mehbooba Mufti attended the swearing-in ceremony among others.

Mufti Sayeed was invited by the Governor to form a new government in the state after BJP-PDP combine staked the claim to form the government under the leadership of 79-year old Sayeed.

The strength of the PDP-BJP alliance government is expected to be 25 with 12 PDP MLAs and an equal number drawn from BJP.

A Common Minimum Programme of the government will also be released today -Sunday.
