Foreign Rescue , Relief Teams Start Leaving Quake-Hit Nepal , NDRF Reaching Patna HQ Today

The death toll in April 25 devastating earthquake has risen to 7366. According to official sources as many as 14371 persons were recorded injured in the tremor.
After completing the first phase of search and rescue operation, the rescuers from different countries have started leaving the Himalayan country.
Teams of rescuers of Poland, Netherland, Turkey, Germany and France and a section of UK have already moved from the Nepal. Three teams of largest contingent of India’s NDRF will be leaving Tuesday to its headquarter Patna. In most of the earthquake affected districts, search and rescue operations have been completed.
NDRF has also completed its search and rescue operations in all three districts of Kathmandu valley including Bhaktapur, Lalitpur and Kathmandu.
They have also bind up their medical camps after treating about 2000 injured.
Nepalese Ministry of Homes has said that relief and rehabilitation operation is underway in most of the districts and rescuers specialist in clearing the rubble will stay to continue the operation.
Removing of debris from streets and roads is also in progress. AIR correspondent reports that in Sindhupalchok, most of the houses constructed with mud and bricks in traditional way have collapsed. An official from the district Tuba Raj Ketel said that several public buildings of schools, primary health centers and government offices are damaged.
As many as 575 schools were completely destroyed across the country. As per reports available 969 schools were found partly damaged. In Sindhupalchok district 12 teachers were killed in the quake. 8 teachers and 36 students in Nuwakot and 10 students in Rasuwa were killed.
Schools in the districts, which were closed after the massive earthquake, will resume from May 15th. Most of the school buildings in Bhaktapur, Lalitpur and Kathmandu are being used as alternative shelters for quake victims.
Relief Materials are reaching to Kathmandu from International donors on large scale continuously. General Manager of civil aviation at Kathmandu airport Virendra Prasad Shreshtha said that 3220 cargo flights have already landed with relief materials till May 3rd mid night.
Replying to a question he said that there is no disruption on landing and take-off of cargo flights at Kathmandu International airport but only restriction has been imposed that weight should not be more than 196 tones. He said this restriction is not applicable on commercial cargo flights.
