11 September, Varanasi

The matter of former Prime Minister Lal Bahadur Shashtri’s death has again started to gain heat ahead of PM Narendra Modi’s visit to his parliamentary constituency on September 18.

In charge of the PM’s district office of Varanasi, Shivsharan Pathak Friday here said that a local BJP leader Ashok Pandey has given a memorandum in the name of Modi regarding a probe in the death of deceased former PM.

The memorandum will be sent to the Prime Minister in a day or two, added Pathak.

He further clarified that the memorandum was given on an individual level, not from the side of party. The memorandum submitted by Pandey mentioned that there would have been a conspiracy behind the death of former PM Bharatratna Lal Bahadur Shastri and his family members had also raised questions over his death.

Pandey, in his memorandum, alleged that Congress who was in the government for more than 50 years, never took the matter seriously and tried to suppress it.

He, further, on an optimistic tone said that Modi would take this matter seriously and order a probe to reveal the truth.

The same demand has been raised several times in the district. Lal Bahadur Shastri died on January 10, 1966 due to cardiac arrest
