Geelani Reappointed As Hurriyat Conference Chairman For Life

Hardliner Hurriyat Conference today reappointed Syed Ali Shah Geelani as its chairman for life and appointed Shabir Ahmad Shah as its secretary general.

A Hurriyat spokesperson said in an important advisory council meeting (Majlis-e-Shura) held here, under the chairmanship of Geelani, the party made some vital changes in the organisational structure.

In the meeting, the HC appointed Geelani as its lifetime chairman while senior leader Shabir Ahmad Shah Sahab was made Secretary General, he said, adding senior leaders Ghulam Nabi and Masarat Alam Bhat were appointed as deputies to the secretary general.

The advisory council meeting also discussed the prevailing political situations in Kashmir, he said.

The members in the meeting said that most of the separatist leaders and parties of Jammu and Kashmir have assembled under the banner of Hurriyat Conference and seeing the unshakable, steadfast, uncompromised and active leadership of Geelani,” he added.
