Governor directs CS, DGP to ensure smooth administration, law and order

President’s Rule has been imposed on Uttarakhand, keeping Uttarakhand Vidhan Sabha in suspension and as per the provisions of Article 356 of the Constitution, all administrative powers have been provided to Governor KK Paul, a statement from the Governor’s House said here Sunday.

According to the constitutional arrangement, the Governor held an important meeting this afternoon with the Chief Secretary and the DGP regarding the implementation of constitutional responsibilities.

Dr Paul also directed them to ensure, on a priority basis, the maintenance of law and order, maintenance of communal harmony, and security and safety of public property, it added. Directions were also given to officials at the state, division and district levels to ensure smooth delivery of essential public services and running of administration.

The move is in pursuance of the Gazette of India Extraordinary Part II Section 3- Sub- Section(i) No 196 New Delhi, Sunday, March 27, 2016, said the statement.
