Gujarat to set up Plast India International University in Vapi

Gujarat government has decided to set up ‘Plast India International University’ in Vapi in partnership with University of Massachusetts Lowell. This was announced by Chief Minister Anandiben Patel at Gandhinagar.

Inaugurating the 9th edition of Plast India 2015 at Gandhinagar, she said that Gujarat Industrial Development Corporation-GIDC will offer 40 acre land at concessional rate to set up this university at Vapi in South Gujarat. The Chief Minister said, the university was aimed at creating skilled workforce for the requirement of the plastics industry.

She said that state government has approved a Centre for excellence for automobiles in cooperation with CIPET and MS University-Vadodara, which will also facilitate innovation and incubation assistance.

She said the state government will start a vocational training centre for tribal youths in Dharampur to provide skill development training.

The 9th International Plastics Exhibition and Conference – Plast India 2015 – will continue up to 10th February. More than 1.5 lakh people from business community are likely to attend the event which include 1600 exhibitors from India and abroad showcasing latest technologies in plastic industry.
