India Expresses Concern Over Reports Of Firing In Indo-Nepal Border

India has expressed concern over the reports of firing today in Birgunj in Indo-Nepal border. An innocent Indian was also killed in the firing.

Replying to a media query on the situation in Nepal, External Affairs Ministry spokesperson Vikas Swarup said, issues facing Nepal are political and cannot be resolved by force. Swarup said, causes underlying the current state of confrontation need to be addressed by the Government of Nepal credibly and effectively.

He said, New Delhi is also monitoring the situation carefully. Swarup said, Indian freight forwarders and transporters have voiced their worries again today about the deteriorating situation across the border. The spokesperson said, India has advised them to exercise caution and not put themselves in danger.

Nepal’s Ambassador to India Deep Kumar Upadhyay Monday termed as tragic the killing of an innocent Indian in firing on Indo-Nepal border.

Talking to a news agency, Upadhyay said, concerned officers are looking into the matter. The Nepalese Ambassador said, peace dialogue between agitating parties and Nepal government is going on. Earlier, Upadhyay visited South Block and met senior officials of the External Affairs Ministry.
