India-Mongolia Direct Non-Stop Air Connectivity Begins With New Delhi-Ulaanbaatar Service

Direct non-stop air connectivity between India and Mongolia began today with the launch of a regular service between New Delhi and Ulaanbaatar. This will reduce the journey between the two capitals to about five hours.

The service, operated by Mongolia’s Hunnu Air, will run every Monday. The new route significantly reduces travel time for passengers who previously had to travel through transit points such as Beijing or Incheon, with such journeys taking roughly 13 to 18 hours.

The direct connection is expected to facilitate travel between the two countries in several areas, including tourism, medical travel and business. The new air link will also boost bilateral trade by enabling faster and potentially more economical movement of cargo between the two countries.

The service was announced at a joint press conference between Mongolian President U. Khurelsukh and Prime Minister Narendra Modi in New Delhi in October last year. India and Mongolia provide visa-free travel for each other’s nationals, while an e-visa facility is also available, further reducing barriers to travel.
