Jaitley Files Rs.10 Cr Defamation Suit In HC Against Kejriwal

Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley Monday filed a civil defamation suit in the Delhi High Court against Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and five other Aam Aadmi Party leaders for allegedly levelling false and defamatory statements against him and his family members.

After hearing the civil defamation case of Jaitley, the Delhi HC judge took cognizance of his complaint and fixed January 5 for recording of his evidence into the matter.

Filing the civil suit against Kejriwal and five others, through his lawyer Manik Dogra, Jaitley has sought Rs 10 crore as pecuniary damages from them.

Besides Kejriwal, Jaitley had filed the civil defamation suit against five AAP leaders– Kumar Vishwas, Ashutosh, Sanjay Singh, Raghav Chadha and Deepak Bajpayee– for their alleged defamatory remarks against him.

Lawyer Dogra said the civil defamation suit on behalf of Jaitley would come up for hearing in the normal course of listing.

Kejriwal had accused Jaitley of financial wrong doings and serious irregularities during his 13 years’ long tenure till 2013 as the President of the Delhi and District Cricket Association (DDCA) a charge vehemently denied by the Finance Minister.
