Manjhi Escapes Unhurt As His Car Met With Minor Accident

14 September, New Delhi

Former Bihar Chief Minister Jitan Ram Manjhi escaped unhurt when his car hit another vehicle outside BJP President Amit Shahs residence in New Delhi Monday, police said.

The Mahadalit leader was returning from Mr Shahs house after a meeting with him over the seat sharing arrangement for the Bihar Assembly election when his car met with an accident outside the BJP chiefs residence.

He came out of the car without suffering any major injuries. Later, he was seen sharing sweets with Shah at his residence.

Talking to reporters, Manjhi said, An announcement is likely to be made about seat sharing after the meeting. Everything has been sorted out regarding the allocation of seats.

Official sources said the BJP is likely to contest the election on 160 seats whereas Manjhi is looking for more than 15 seats.

The BJP and its three allies — the LJP, the RLSP and the HAM — are likely to make a formal announcement regarding the seat allocation today.

The BJP wants to make use of all the cards it has up its sleeve. That is why despite having the LJPs Ram Vilas Paswan on its side, it is placating Manjhi also so that he remains with the NDA with his vast following among the Mahadalit voters.
