Mining Scam: Judicial Custody Of Anil Lad Extended

The judicial custody of Former KarnatakaMinister and Legislator Anil Lad, arrested in connection withillegal iron ore export, was extended till August 3 by CBI SpecialCourt here Monday.
Anil Lad was arrested by CBI sleuths on July 15 in connectionwith missing Iron Ore from Belikeri Port in Uttara Kannada Districtin 2010 and he was remanded to custody till July 20.
CBI Police, after producing Anil Lad in the Court on expiry ofthe custody, appealed for 15 days extension since inquiry is yet tobe completed.
The CBI Special Court Judge Malappa extended the custody for 14days and called for filing objection, if any, within two days.
Advocate C V Nagesh, appearing on behalf of Anil Lad, pleaded forgrant of bail since his client has to participate in the ongoingLegislative Session.
Anil Lad was charged with missing 15,000 tons of iron ore fromBelikeri Port and he had allegedly exported the iron ore through hiscompanies including V S Lad Mining Company, Mallikarjun Shippingcompany, owned by Independent MLA Satish Sail (in which Anil Lad is a Director).
Earlier, Police brought Anil Lad to the court under heavy securityand did not allow anybody to speak to him.
