N Sakthan Elected Speaker Of Kerala Assembly

N Sakthan of the Congress has been elected as the new Speaker of the Kerala Legislative Assembly. While Sakthan got 74 votes, Ayisha Potti,the Left Democratic Front candidate secured 66 votes.

The Speaker’s post fell vacant following the demise of incumbent G Karthikeyan.

Sakthan was Deputy Speaker and had also served as Transport Minister in the earlier Congress-led United Democratic Front Ministry.
