Naveen dedicates 100 drinking water projects to people in urban areas

Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik today dedicated 100 drinking water projects and laid foundation stone for equal number of projects with an estimated cost of Rs 272 crore at a function here to provide safe and clean drinking water to people residing in urban areas of the state.
Earlier, the government had dedicated 200 drinking water projects in three phases and laid foundation stone for 50 new drinking water projects from April to July last.The government has given priority and is committed to providing safe drinking water to the people in all the 110 urban areas of the state, Patnaik said.
Official sources here said the government is implementing 846 drinking water projects to improve the supply of safe drinking water in urban areas during 2016-17.The 846 projects included 143 projects being implemented in the state under the AMRUT yojana at a cost of Rs 906 crore.
The chief minister also launched the Smart Water Information management System (swims), a one stop dash board for capturing relevant water data on water supply, physical infrastructure, revenue and other measures to effectively manage the urban water supply service from source to tap, bringing transparency, accountability and establishing a better grievance redressal system.
Patnaik also launched the e-BPAS online application to address the problems faced by people in getting NOC from various departments within a specific time for building plan approval.BM
