The Hyderabad-based National Institute of Rural Development and Panchayat Raj (NIRDPR) has developed training modules to fill the gaps in rural infrastructure and provide training to elected public representatives under the Prime Minister Sansad Aadarsh Gram Yojana (PMSAGY).
Director General of the Institute, MV Rao told AIR that it would help in developing model villages and provide handholding guidance in implementation of the model village scheme.
Stating that the institute has been into rural development research for over half a century, he said it has formulated modules for developing social infrastructure under the Aadarsh Gram Yojana, while each village has different set of issues.
Dr Rao said various existing living standards in the village would be thoroughly examined before identifying the needs of its social infrastructure.
Elected representatives have adopted thousands of villages for development of infrastructure like schools, drinking water and sanitation and some more will be adopted for development in the coming years.
