Nitish will not complete full term as CM: BJP

The Bihar BJP Tuesday asserted that Chief Minister Nitish Kumar would not complete his full term in office as Grand Alliance was heading towards disintegration in view of the differences among its leaders widening further in the aftermath of Uttar Pradesh assembly election result.

“Grand alliance is not only divided on several issues and in complete disarray but is also heading towards disintegration. It is not looking possible for Chief Minister to complete his term in view of circumstances developing after the result for UP election,” remarked former Deputy Chief Minister and senior BJP leader Sushil Kumar Modi in a statement.

He said that posters of Mr Kumar were conspicuous by their absence at an official function organised at Raghopur in Vaishali district four days back as only RJD flags were fluttering in the air everywhere.

No minister or MLA from two other constituents of the Grand Alliance – JD (U) and Congress was invited to the event, he added. Senior BJP leader said that it was not a mere coincidence that Deputy Chief Minister Tejaswi Yadav, son of RJD chief Lalu Prasad, did not join the Chief Minister during the latter’s “Nischaya Yatra”.

The BJP leader also said that senior RJD leader and party Vice President Raghuvansh Prasad Singh on the prodding of party supremo Mr Prasad was also holding the chief minister partly responsible for the defeat of Samajwadi Party and Congress in UP.

He said that differences in Grand Alliance on demonetisation was well-known as Kumar fully supported scrapping of high value currency notes whereas the RJD and Congress staged dharnas and held demonstration against demonetisation. Kumar had pointed out how his stand on demonetisation was vindicated when SP and Congress suffered humiliating defeat in UP due to their stiff opposition to the scrapping of high value currency notes.
